Folkestone power past Herne Bay

Folkestone Optimists Hockey Club men's 1st team cruised to a 4-1 win over Herne Bay on Saturday, with all their goals coming in the first half.

Tom Ames put Ops into an early lead and the same player made it 2-0 soon after when his shot was deflected past the Bay keeper.

Martin Ritchie was then rewarded for his hard-working performance in midfield with a goal from a short corner, and Folkestone's excellent first half was rounded off when Hugo Furneaux set up Stuart green for number four.

Herne Bay produced a much better second-half performance which left Ops mostly on the back foot, but with Shez Watt and Ally Walls both strong in defence Bay had to settle for a late consolation goal.
