Folkestone's season ends on low note

Hednesford Town 3 Folkestone 1

FOLKESTONE Invicta's last game of the season ended in defeat away to Hednesford Town with three goals coming during a five-minute spell during the last ten minutes at Keys Park.

The visitors went into the game with another makeshift side as 18-year-old defender Mark Towse filled in as emergency goalkeeper for the second successive match.

After a fairly uninspired opening 45 minutes, Towse conceded a soft goal as Hednesford opened the scoring during first half stoppage time.

Towse could only push the ball up in the air when a Maguire corner from the left lopped up and acting Hednesford player-manager Chris Brindley was credited with the softest of goals as the ball ended up in the Invicta net.

But the visitors were to draw level after 80 minutes and had an unlikely hero in substitute Andy Morris.

Morris had replaced the injured John Guest after 65 minutes and was there to equalise from close range following James Millar's corner from the right. But the Pitmen responded with two more goals of their own in three minutes.

Substitute Mark Jones volleyed the home side ahead after 82 minutes when Brindley nodded on David Berks' free kick and David Moss made it 3-1 after 84 minutes when he headed in Anthony Maguire's cross.
