Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley looks ahead to FA Cup tie at National League South Dulwich Hamlet

Manager Neil Cugley believes there’s no pressure on Folkestone ahead of their FA Cup tie at Dulwich.

Invicta will be out to cause an upset in the Third Qualifying Round this Saturday as they take on the manager-less National League South outfit at Champion Hill.

But Dulwich, who beat Invicta’s rivals Margate to reach this stage in the competition, are 19th and recently parted company with long-serving boss Gavin Rose, although they did win 3-0 at Cheshunt on Tuesday.

“Dulwich are not performing that well but they are a massive club with a massive following,” said Cugley.

“Obviously, we would like to have it at home, but it’s one we can enjoy. I don’t think the pressure is on as much.

“Nathan Green played there for a long time and Ade Yusuff spent some time there as well. We are looking forward to it.

“I enjoy games like this as a manager and, hopefully, the players do.”

Invicta were beaten 3-2 against Potters Bar last Saturday despite goals from Ade Yusuff and substitute Ibrahim Olutade, making it back-to-back league losses.

Cugley said: “We have not really got going, we have been very patchy so far this year and Saturday summed that up well.

“One week, we defend well, the next, we don’t defend well. One week, we look like scoring loads and the next we don’t.

“But expectations are higher at Folkestone. There’s a bit of pressure there and it’s showing in how we are playing. It’s great we are getting good crowds - but we have to perform in front of them.

“I try to take all the pressure off them but it cannot be helped now.

"Because of last year, our expectations are to be up there. So it does hurt when you lose, it’s a bit more disappointing now.”

The officials were certainly well involved in Invicta’s loss against Potters Bar.

The visitors broke the deadlock with a penalty following James Rogers’ challenge on defender Kasim Aidoo before Invicta had two late claims for a spot-kick of their own waved away.

“I think it’s a penalty early on for them,” Cugley said.

“It’s just a bit weird for us, really, we could have had four or five penalties this season and we have hardly had any. But to be fair, I have not looked at it back on video.

“I don’t want to blame the officials - I’m not like that - but Saturday, I thought we could have had a penalty.

“We had one exactly the same the other week but hopefully these things even themselves out.”

Winger Kadell Daniel (hamstring) is set to be out for a couple of weeks after he came off in the first half against Potters Bar while defender Callum Davies (hip) is due to be assessed. He missed their Kent Senior Cup 3-1 defeat at home to Isthmian South East Cray Valley on Tuesday, Ira Jackson netting their goal, and is a doubt for their FA Cup match.

Folkestone visit Bishop’s Stortford in the league next Tuesday night.

They have been drawn at home to Whitehawk in the FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round.
