Optimists edged out in seven-goal thriller

Folkestone Optimists Hockey Club produced their best performance of the season in losing 4-3 to second-placed Worthing in the Kent/Sussex Regional League.

Ops made a promising start and, despite being down to 10 men because of a yellow card, took the lead through Martin Ritchie.

Worthing soon equalised, only for Tom Ames to put Folkestone back in front at half-time.

But Worthing were more threatening in the second half and moved into a 4-2 lead before Stuart Green got a goal back for Ops 10 minutes from time.
