Appeal after 'cowardly' street attack

KENT Police are appealing for information about what they describe as a "cowardly attack" on a 68-year-old man.

The victim was approached by three men while walking along Whitehill Road, Gravesend, at the junction of Lamorna Avenue.

One of the men asked the man for money and after a brief conversation the three men started to walk away.

The victim carried on walking but then noticed the three men turn round. He turned into Cornwall Avenue where the three men approached him again. One of them grabbed hold of him while the second man spoke aggressively.

The first man then threw the victim to the ground still asking him for money. The offenders walked off leaving the man on the ground. The victim suffered cuts and bruises to his knees and hands.

The first offender is described as white, aged between aged 16-18, 5ft 7in tall, of slim build with crooked teeth. The second offender is white, aged about 19, 5ft 7in tall, of slim build with dark, brown hair. He was wearing a dark jacket.

The third man is aged about 19, around 6ft tall, and of stocky build. He was also wearing a dark jacket.

DC Tara Melton, the officer investigating the incident said: “This was a cowardly attack on a man who was on his way home. I would urge anyone who has information about this incident to contact the police.”
