Cabbie's death: man in dock on murder charge

A MAN of 20 has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 71-year-old taxi driver in Gravesend.

Luke Andrew Aujila, said to be of no fixed abode, was in the dock at Medway Magistrates' Court for a two minute hearing.

He is charged with the murder of Gian Chand Bajar.

Mr Bajar, a father of five, was found lying injured in the road in St Benedict's Avenue, Gravesend, last Wednesday evening and died in hospital shortly aferwards.

Aujila spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

Eight of Mr Bajar's family and friends watched proceedings from the public gallery.

Aujila was remanded in custody until June 11 when he will appear before Maidstone Crown Court.
