A2 vehicle fire closes part of dual carriageway by Southfleet, Dartford

A car fire closed part of a busy dual carriageway.

The blaze was on the London-bound A2 near Southfleet, Dartford, at around 11.30am and caused congestion back to the Cobham Services in Gravesend.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Two fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put the fire out.

"There were no reported injuries."

A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 11.37am to a car alight.

"Officers attended the scene where fire crews extinguished the blaze."

Two lanes were closed while arrangements were made to recover the vehicle.
