This was the scene after a car came crashing into a Kent kebab shop.

Fortunately, all the staff were behind the serving counter when the vehicle smashed through the front window at Sanchos in Milton Road, Gravesend.

The car hit a table and chairs, sending them flying into the fridge, buckled the window frame and smashed the glass frontage.

Owner Huseyin Yalsin said it sounded like an earthquake. He said: "God knows what happened. Luckily there were no customers and nobody was walking outside at the time."

It is unclear why the car left the road but police are treating it as an accident and no one has been arrested.

It is believed that they are trying to trace another car in relation to the incident.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm on Saturday, December 13.
