Concerns raised about hospital merger

Job losses, funding and how patients will get to appointments were just some of the concerns raised at a meeting about the possible merger between Dartford and Gravesham and Medway NHS trusts.

About 50 people attended a meeting last night at Fleet Leisure Centre in Nelson Road, Northfleet, to discuss the plans.

A panel including Medway NHS chief executive Mark Devlin gave presentations in favour of the move.

Audience members raised concerns about the funding of the merger, transport between the two hospitals and communication with members of the public.

They also expressed fears at the potential number of job losses at both hospitals.

It was the first of a series of public events over the next six months which to discuss the merger in greater detail.
