Family from Stone offering £200 reward for information on dog that attacked family pet Bullseye

A family is offering a £200 reward to identify a dog that savaged their pet Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Leanne Salter was walking through a field by Stone Pavilion, Greenhithe, when her one-year-old dog Bullseye was mauled by another canine.

She described a boy around the age of 15 playing football with two dogs, similar to a sheep dog, before one of them set upon the family pet.

The black and white Staffie was taken to the vets after being left with multiple wounds and blood spraying everywhere, which left Mrs Salter with a £1,200 bill.

Miss Salter, of Tollgate Road, Stone, said: "Bullseye was attacked on Saturday and had to go straight to the vets to have an operation and have the end part of his tail amputated.

"I am sickened to think a kid had control of these animals. There was blood everywhere."

The mother-of-two made it clear she didn't hold any blame towards the young boy walking the dogs, but instead targeted his parents, saying she was left mortified by the incident.

"I haven't made a fundraising page because I don't think the public should pay for something the dog done, it should be the owners," she said.

The trainee childminder continued: "I tried crossing over the road when I saw the boy's dogs look at Bullseye.

"All of a sudden I heard the boy screaming at the dog as he ran to my dog and attacked him.

"I think he knew what was coming. I was hysterical, it was latched on and we couldn't get it to let go."

The family dog was left traumatised by the event, becoming withdrawn and cautious, which isn't his usual attitude.

Mrs Salter added: "I was absolutely mortified, just screaming and crying in an absolute state.

"I usually take my 3-year-old son with me on the walks, but luckily I didn't this time.

"He would have been scarred for life if he saw that."

Police spokesman James Walker said: "We received a report stating a dog was attacked by another dog while it was being walked in Hayes Road, Stone, at around 4.30pm on Saturday October 20.

"Officers have spoken with the owner of the dog to gather further information and are conducting initial enquiries."
