Fire broke out at a shop in Gravesend this morning.

Crews were called to Kent Hair Studio in Harmer Street at 3.55am.

One man was treated at the scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

Police remain at the scene this morning.

A 20 year old man from Gravesend has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and is currently in police custody.

It is the second fire in Harmer Street this week.

On Sunday fire crews were called to reports of a fire breaking out in the basement.

Crews used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and a main jet to tackle the blaze, while a ventilation fan was used to vent smoke and fumes from the property.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but will be jointly investigated by KFRS and Kent Police.
