Fire crews battle roof fire through the night in Ridge Lane, Meopham

Firefighters were called to a blaze in the roof of a house last night.

Crews attended Ridge Lane in Meopham just after 10.30pm following reports of a fire at a property.

Three fire engines and a bulk water carrier were in attendance.

Crews wore breathing apparatus as they used hose reel jets to tackle the flames. The incident was cleared at around 1.45am.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Kirsty Gearey said there were no reported injuries.

Police were called to the site at around 11pm.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and investigations are ongoing.
