UPDATE

A 17-year-old has been charged of burgling his local football club.

The youth, from Northfleet, was arrested after police investigated two break-ins at Ebbsfleet United.

He has also been arrested with assaulting a police officer and two counts of burglary as well as taking a vehicle without consent.

We reported yesterday that he was being quizzed about the first of two burglaries that have left Ebbsfleet United without floodlights.

In the second raid, thieves stole cabling to the floodlights.

The club is waiting for money to be released from their insurers before they make more repairs.

Their next home game is on Tuesday, March 13 against Wrexham in a 7.45pm kick off.

If matches have to be cancelled because they can’t afford to repair the floodlights, it could also lead to job losses.

A trench has been dug ready to re-lay the cables.
