Inquest into Northfleet man reopened

The inquest into the death of a Northfleet man who died while under police care was re-opened today.

Jason Murray, 34, of The Hive, collapsed in June 2009 after going to the police for help. He was admitted to Little Brook Hospital, Dartford. He died six days later at Darent Valley Hospital on June 23.

An inquest was initially opened in November 2009 but after more than a year’s delay it resumed at Gravesend Coroner Court at the Adult Education Centre in Darnley Road.

Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance, Kent and Medway NHS Social Care and Partnership Trust and Mr Murray’s family are all due to give evidence.

The case is expected to last two weeks.
