Knifepoint robbery over a £1 coin

A KNIFE-WIELDING robber threatened to stab a student - for a £1 coin.

The robber approached the 15-year-old victim as he waited for a bus outside Gravesend railway station. He asked the teenager if he had a spare £1 and when he replied that he only had his bus fare of £1.50 to get home to Longfield, the robber threatened to stab him and made him hand over £1.

No knife was seen and the attacker then walked off towards the Railway Tavern pub.

The robber was white, aged 20 to 25, and 5ft 11ins tall. He was stocky, unshaven and wore a light-grey Nike tracksuit, which was zipped up and had the hood up over a light-coloured baseball cap.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery which happened on Saturday, September 22 just after 8pm.Anyone with information can contact Det Con Sarah Myers at Gravesend police station on 01474 565064.
