Man suffers serious head injuries in pub assault

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault which happened in the early hours of today, Friday, November 7.

The incident happened at around 3am at the junction of Barrack Row and Darnley Road, near to the Somerset Arms pub and train station.

The victim, a man, was repeatedly assaulted by another man after an argument at the Somerset Arms pub.

He was taken to hospital with serious head injuries. He has now been transferred to a hospital in London where his condition remains stable.

Witnesses have described the attacker as a black man, around 6'6" tall and of a large build.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw the assault or who may have information that could help with this inquiry. Anyone with information should contact police in north Kent on 01474 366001.
