It is reported the driver tried fleeing the scene when asked by police to stop. He was said to have been driving dangerously and almost hit officers.

The driver was arrested and when the car was searched £20,000 in cash and some powder, believed to be MDMA, was found.

Following the arrest, police then conducted a search warrant at a residential property in Lanters Way, London, where they recovered a further £34,000 in cash.

Shofique Miah, 40, of Headlam Street, Bethnal Green, London, was later charged with possession with intent to supply MDMA, possession of criminal property (namely the seized cash), obstructing a constable in the execution of their duty, dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, and failing to provide a specimen.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court last Friday and was released on conditional bail pending a further hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on March 31.
