The Ship Inn pub in Southfleet donates 60 Christmas Day dinners to staff at Darent Valley and Medway Maritime hospitals

A pub and its staff have stepped up to the plate to ensure hospital workers don't go hungry this festive period.

Christmas drinks at the local may have been cancelled this year but one Southfleet venue and its building firm friends have been finding the time to give back to the community.

The Ship Inn and Dartford-based Esquire developments clubbed together to fund Christmas dinners for the NHS.

Staff at the pub volunteered to prep and package all 60 meals which were the delivered to Darent Valley Hospital and Medway Maritime Hospital on Christmas Day.

It meant staff, many of who were spending time apart from their families, could enjoy a three course meal made up of butternut squash soup and traditional turkey with all the trimmings.

This was then topped off by a serving of either Christmas pudding or Biscoff cheesecake.

Manager of the Ship Inn Allisha Coulson said: "We just want to help in anyway we can and what better way to say thank you than a great big delicious Christmas dinner."
