Riverside development gets green light

A MAJOR new development on the riverside consisting of flats, a restaurant, and a shop on the West Street pier has been given the go ahead.

Yesterday evening members of Gravesham Borough Council's regulatory board revealed their excitement about the Clifton Wharf development, which will transform the face of the riverside.

It has been designed by internationally-known architect Kohn Pederson Fox Associated and includes four three-bedroom, 57 two-bedroom and 84 one-bedroom flats, housed in four buildings which straddle West Street and are linked by a bridge.

Permission was granted to Down River Properties Ltd by the board on the agreement that other obligations are delivered, including repair and ongoing maintenance of the pier and public access to the riverside.

See next week's Gravesend Messenger for full story and reactions. Out Thursday, February 26.
