Stock worth £20,000 stolen from Woolworths store

A LARGE amount of stock, including CDs and electronic games, in particular Playstation games and consoles, have been stolen from the Woolworths store in King Street at Gravesend.

The stock is thought to be valued at around £20,000. The thieves entered the premises through a rear ground floor window. Damage estimated at £1,000 was also caused to the building.

The theft occurred sometime between 5.50pm on Wednesday, August 3, and about 7am on Thursday, August 4.

DS Andrew Kelsey, the officer investigating the theft, said: “The offenders may have been in the area of Queen Street which is at the back of Woolworths. They obviously had to carry quite a lot of the goods away.

"I would urge anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area of the store between these times to contact the police. The information could prove vital to the investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DS Kelsey quoting reference 16804 on 01474 565167 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 – calls to this number are free and you may be eligible for a reward.
