A man has been charged after a police officer was injured during a routine stop and search.
A large part of Gravesend's one-way system was closed yesterday morning as a result of the injury and a section of The Terrace was cordoned off with only residents allowed to walk through.
Drivers were being told to avoid West Street, Queen Street, Crooked Lane and The Terrace junction with Harmer Street.

A driver tried to make off after a routine stop and search in Harmer Street just after midnight, injuring an officer in the process.
Yesterday a man was arrested and today police revealed he has been charged.
David Seal, 32, of Peacock Street, Gravesend, has been charged with assault, dangerous driving and driving without insurance or a licence.
He was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court later today.
The policeman was taken for hospital treatment, but has since been released.
The road closures stayed in place until about 10am and bus services were diverted.
The cordon in The Terrace stretched from the former The City B&B almost to the junction with Harmer Street.
Queen Street opened earlier but drivers were unable to turn onto The Terrace at the end of it and were being diverted along the High Street instead.
Some police vehicles were parked across roads around the town centre, stopping traffic from using them. Diversions already in place for the multi-million pound building project around the railway station added to the confusion.
Arriva services 480, 490, 483 and 481 were diverted via Darnley Road and Old Road East.
