A Gravesend woman has admitted arson after starting six fires in as many days.

Julie Parker, of Darnley Street, appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court after she was charged with six counts of arson.

The 48-year-old was arrested by police following a series of bin fires outside Gravesend businesses and remanded in custody until her court appearance.

Overnight from 8pm on June 26, a bin was set alight outside a car maintenance store in the Imperial Retail Park.

Parker targeted the same business overnight from 7pm on June 30.

Parker also set the bins of a carpet store in the same retail park alight overnight from 6pm on June 26.

A pizza takeaway in West Street was also targeted twice in early-morning fires - once at 3.30am on June 27 and again after 12.30am on July 1.

Another in Perry Street was targeted at 1.36am on July 1.

Parker will be sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on a date yet to be set.
