'Wrong way' driver named by police

A MAN who died in hospital after being involved in a four-vehicle crash on the A2 near Dartford has been identified by Kent Police.

He was Ernest Herbert, who was 83 and lived at Thong Lane in Gravesend. The accident occurred at around 11.20pm on Tuesday.

Police received reports that his Toyota car was being driven the wrong way along the carriageway.

After the crash he was taken to Dartford's Darent Valley Hospital but died a few hours later. Police said nobody else was seriously injured in the incident.

Police are asking witnesses to the crash to call a special appeal line on 01622 600970.

The coroner is being informed and an inquest will be held.
