Loan striker Michael Thalassitis is hoping a season with Ebbsfleet will kickstart his Football League career.

The 20-year-old Cypriot is contracted to Stevenage but has played for the League 1 club only seven times in two years at Broadhall Way.

Thalassitis joined the Fleet on a season-long loan at the start of July and is itching to impress his parent club by firing Steve Brown’s side back to Conference Premier.

He said: “I’ve come here to get promoted. I’d like to play as high as possible and the only way I’m going to do that is by scoring goals and playing well consistently. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do that this season.

“I knew Stevenage wanted to loan me out and this was too big an opportunity to turn down. I know a few of the lads (at Ebbsfleet), I’ve known five or six of them for a few years now.

“Stacy (Long) and Ben (May) were at Stevenage when I was there and if they’re the sort of players that the gaffer’s going to bring in, then we should be pushing to get promoted.

"Ben scored a lot of goals last year, so it seemed like the right move for me.”
