GRAVESEND manager Liam Daish is looking for his side to show more fight, following their defeat to Morecambe on Saturday.

A 2-1 home reverse left Daish feeling that his players should be getting more out of each other on the park.

He said: "We have some, but I need a few players who are going to not only bully opposition players, but bully their team-mates. We need to have that in our game. For 90 minutes you don’t have to be best of mates.

"You’ve got to get more out of people around you and sometimes this season we’ve been letting a few things go by unnoticed."

Fleet were behind against the play-off chasers after just three minutes, with Wayne Curtis hitting the opener.

Roy Essandoh came close to pulling the sides level with a headed effort, but minutes later his side were two down as Darren Kempson came in at the far post to head home, following Chris Blackburn’s flick on from a free-kick.

Daish admitted once they were two behind his side were always likely to struggle.

He said: "All our intentions and preparations we made before the game were thrown out of the window. When you give a goal away inside two or three minutes you’re giving yourself a mountain to climb.

"They’re obviously looking to get into the play-offs and we’ve given them the lead. From then on they’ve dug in and were very strong and had something to defend."

Daish added: "We got bullied in the first half – like we did against Halifax – and to get anything out of these games you’ve got to stand up for yourself."

Gravesend: Wilkerson, Protheroe, Skinner (Lovell 8 (Surey 75)), Drury, McKimm, Saunders, Porter, Essandoh (Pinnock 69), Bunce, Jackson, Sigere. Subs Not Used: Gledhill, Pullen.

Attendance: 987.
