Fans' trust launches new fund-raiser

GRAVESEND & Northfleet FC's Supporters’ Trust have announced a new fund-raising initiative that could net the club £100,000.

Called Pennies on the Pitch, the idea is to cover the pitch, in simulation, with pennies from fans’ loose change.

Supporters are being asked to look out for collection bottles that will be sited at various pubs, shops and businesses in and around the Gravesend and Northfleet area. They will also be found in the club shop and travel hut at Stonebridge Road.

Alan Parker, of the Supporters’ Trust, said: “It’s a scheme that could help the club secure Nationwide Conference status and eventually push for promotion to the Football League.

“We are directing our efforts at those who can afford to part with a bit of loose change while not seriously affecting their pockets.”

The Trust, formed in June, 2003 has recruited in excess of 200 members. It will be holding a fund-raising race night in the Stonebridge Road Social Club on April 23.

Meanwhile, it has been announced that Fleet's Golf Day will be held on Tuesday, April 27, at The Ridge Golf Club at East Sutton, near Maidstone.

The event will be an 18-hole stableford followed by a three-course dinner. For further details telephone 01474 351068 or 07745 630273.
