Fleet suffer defeat at basement side

Tamworth 1 – 0 Gravesend & Northfleet

GRAVESEND suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Nationwide Conference strugglers Tamworth on Saturday.

The winner came after 58 minutes and Fleet will be unhappy with the manner of the goal.

Fleet seemed to switch off as Scott Stamp’s 58th-minute corner swung across the box and Dave Bampton was on hand to lash the ball home past the helpless Craig Holloway.

Gravesend had looked comfortable up until the goal, but it was Tamworth who went closest in the remainder of the match once they had taken the lead.

Gravesend: Holloway, Protheroe, McCarthy, Smith, Skinner (Glozier 83), Slatter (Drury 57), Surey, Saunders, Jackson, Grant (Omoyinmi 67), Sodje.
Subs Not Used: Kerr, Gooding.
