Gravesend's Commonwealth Games gold medallist Georgia-Mae Fenton named in British squad for World Artistic Gymnastics Championships

Gravesend gymnast Georgia-Mae Fenton will be going for gold on home soil once again after she was included in the British squad for the World Artistic Championships in Liverpool next month.

Fenton won both individual and team gold representing England at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and followed up with team silver in August for GB at the European Championships in Munich.

Her call-up follows that of fellow Gravesend gymnast Giarnni Regini-Moran, whose place in the men's squad was confirmed last week, and she can't wait to perform with the backing of another partisan crowd.

Fenton said: “I’m super excited and grateful. I really wanted to target the World Championships this year just like any other year but with it being in Liverpool and in front of the home crowd again it will be an even more amazing experience.

"I’m so excited and overwhelmed with joy with what’s been a great year of competition for my career and British Gymnastics as a whole.

"We want to continue the momentum and hopefully achieve more success out there and enjoy the experience together.”

Fenton will be joined on the GB team by Alice Kinsella, Jessica Gadirova, Jennifer Gadirova and Ondine Achampong for the championships at the M&S Bank Arena from October 29-November 6.
