High praise for Fleet's community work

GRAVESEND have been awarded the highest FA accolade for their work in the community.

The club, working in partnership with the youth and ladies sections, have been recognised with the FA Community Club Charter Standard.

The Charter Standard programme was launched in 2001 with the aim of setting standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people.

Chairman of Gravesend youth Tim Elgar said: "This award allows all teams at Gravesend to be recognised and accredited as a charter standard club.

"It includes a certificate and plaque for the clubhouse, some football equipment, use of the charter standard logo on our promotional material and ongoing help and support from the FA.

"By achieving the award, we are demonstrating to all members, parents and the public, that we are a well organised and safe club."

Gravesend are one of 12 FA Community Clubs in Kent to achieve the award.
