England C goalkeeper Brandon Hall disappointed to be left out by Ebbsfleet United during the last two months of the season

Brandon Hall has spoken of his disappointment at being axed for the last two months of Ebbsfleet's season.

The England C goalkeeper, who's being released by the club this summer, had been ever-present for Fleet in National South until a nervy display against Havant & Waterlooville on March 1.

Hall admitted he didn’t play well that night but didn’t expect what happened next.

Fleet promptly signed Nathan Ashmore from Gosport and Hall didn’t even make the bench for their remaining 10 league games – or the play-offs.

He said: "It seemed sudden. It was disappointing not to be able to play the final few games of the season considering how well I’d done across the 32 games I had played.

"It’s my job as a goalkeeper to help the team not to lose and we only lost four times when I was playing in the league.

"It was unfortunate not to be able to show I could bounce back from that one game – probably the only poor game I played all season. It was disappointing."

Fleet boss Daryl McMahon chose Hall as his No.1 last summer and sent Preston Edwards out on loan.

Hall said: "I was pleased with how I played this season. I looked at the stats and was pleasantly surprised, when I was in, how well I did.

"I played 32 games, we were unbeaten in the first 12 and didn’t lose a single away game.

"Maybe we lost or drew one that we should have won but I felt that if I continued in goal, we’d have continued how we had done before and come back with a win.

"It’s disappointing to not be selected at all but you have to respect the manager’s decision.

"His decision to play me at the beginning of the season, I have to feel privileged for that, giving me the opportunity to play.

"I’m in a great place. As a young goalkeeper it’s difficult to be selected for a club at this level, for a manager to trust you.

"Luckily I’ve had a good amount of experience at this level for a young keeper.

"I’ve only just turned 23 and to play the amount of games and to have been selected three times for England is fantastic.

"Hopefully, the future is pretty good and I’ll play in a higher division soon but we’ll have to wait and see."
