Daryl McMahon was full of praise for Myles Weston after he scored Ebbsfleet's stoppage-time winner in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

The winger has found the back of the net three games running and looks to be on top of his game.

Weston a summer signing from Wycombe, had an excellent game against Eastleigh on Saturday and is thriving on the right of midfield three behind striker Danny Kedwell.

McMahon said: "Myles Weston is here to score and create goals. That’s what we signed him for.

"It’s very simple what his job title is and he’s good at it. I trust him. He’s a very good player and he works hard as well.

"I think he’s found it difficult this season to be fair. I signed him as a main player, someone I expect to perform week in, week out.

"He’s had two or three years of being a sub and being a player that was always left out. He’s been adjusting his body and mind to the fact “I am a main player again” so he’s finding his feet now.

"He's got the confidence to get his body through stuff that he didn’t have to before and he’s been brilliant. He’s a very talented player and a top lad as well."

Fleet won 2-1 on Saturday with all three goals coming in the last 13 minutes.

"It was a bitty, rubbish game," McMahon admitted. "They made it scrappy in the first half, time-wasted quite a lot and kicked a lot of balls into the bus station.

"They tried to stop the game and frustrate us which they probably did a little bit in the first half but I always felt the moments of quality with Shields, Weston, Coulson, Powell and Kedwell, we knew we had players in the team that could produce a goal - and in the end we did."

Weston's late goal avoided a midweek replay in Hampshire less than a week before Christmas.

"I think that’s huge for us," he said. "Fylde (who Fleet play on Saturday) went to extra time and they’ve had a lot of games lately.

"Every manager wants to avoid replays just because you go into that really busy period that we know is hectic for all of us. It’s good that we haven’t got to travel down there. We can have another training day and we get ready for next week.

"To travel down to Eastleigh is a long way and there’s always traffic down there. To take that out of the equation with Westy and then Fylde next week, we’ll deal with that from Monday morning."
