Gravesend & Northfleet 2 Rushden & Diamonds 1

GRAVESEND booked their place in the last eight of the FA Trophy as they beat Rushden 2-1 at Stonebridge Road on Saturday.

Fleet took the lead after just five minutes when Charlie MacDonald converted from the penalty spot.

And it was 2-0 before the half hour mark when MacDonald did superbly to set up Mark DeBolla to score from close range.

Substitute Michael Rankine pulled a goal back for the visitors on the hour when he got the wrong side of the Gravesend defence and beat keeper Sam Mott.

Both sides ended the game with 10 men as former Gillingham player Paul Watson and Fleet's Danny Slatter were shown red cards.
