Ebbsfleet stormed into the Skrill South top-three this week and now they’re dreaming of a run to the latter stages of the FA Trophy.

They entertain Gloucester City in the first round on Saturday, looking to extend their winning run to six games.

Back-to-back league wins over promotion rivals Basingstoke and Hayes & Yeading have sent confidence levels soaring at Stonebridge Road and boss Steve Brown is eager to keep that momentum building.

He said: "Who knows what can happen in a cup competition? With a kind draw here and a kind draw there, all of a sudden you’re in a quarter-final - and who doesn’t want that?

"I’m not saying it’s easy, because we’re in the early stages, but why wouldn’t we give it our best shot? We're treating every competition seriously.

"The morale is sky-high at the moment. We had a tough start to the season in terms of results but we’ve managed to turn that around."

Gloucester are rooted to the foot of the Skrill North, so Ebbsfleet are favourites to progress and pick up the £5,000 prize money. However, cup wins against the Fleet’s league rivals Havant and Boreham Wood already this season prove they’re not to be underestimated.

The only player set to miss the tie is striker Ben May, who came off with a shoulder injury during the first half of Tuesday’s 2-1 win at Hayes & Yeading.
