Wembley heroes brought back down to earth

Ebbsfleet United's faint play-off hopes were all but ended on Friday as they went down 3-1 at Stevenage Borough.

The home side took the lead on 37 minutes when Tyrone Berry turned in Mitchell Cole's left-wing cross.

And the lead was doubled four minutes later when Berry's corner was headed in by defender Ashley Westwood.

The points were wrapped up five minutes after the break when Steve Morison rose to head in Daryl McMahon's free kick.

Michael Bostwick scored a consolation goal for the Fleet in the 62nd minute when he nodded in Stacy Long's centre.

Ebbsfleet: Cronin, McPhee, Hawkins, MacDonald (Charles 78 mins), Opinel, Long, Hearn, Barrett (Ricketts 54 mins), Bostwick, Moore (Purcell 54 mins), Akinde.

Subs not used: Mott, Nade.
