Easing the way to emigrate

IF YOU have ever dreamed of upping sticks and moving to the other side of the world, a company at Throwley, near Faversham, might be able to help. Migration Solutions, based at Parsonage Farm, specialises in helping people emigrate to New Zealand.

The company was set up in August last year. Director Mike Ingram said: "We got the idea after a meeting with the New Zealand High Commission in London. They were appealing for people to move to the country and boost the economy."

The company acts as consultants for potential migrants, and helps sort out all the necessary paperwork. Mr Ingram said: "First of all we hold a free eligibility assessment with the client. There is no point applying for a visa if you will not be allowed to work in the country when you get there.

"Not everyone is eligible. After that we let people think about it, and decide if it is really what they want to do." Once a person has decided to emigrate, the company helps with advice on housing, furniture removal, schools and jobs.

As well as four staff in the Kent office, there are two more in New Zealand, to help with acclimatisation when the client arrives. Last year, almost 6,000 Britons emigrated to New Zealand.

Although New Zealand is about the same size as Britain, the population is only the same as Birmingham, around four million. For more information visit the company's website www.migration-solutions.co.uk or telephone 01795 890077.
