Law firm helps in 'innovative' outsourcing move

Asb, the south east law firm with offices in Kent, has helped an insurer outsource its multi-million pound property services operation.

In an unusual move, Aon has switched its property services to CB Richard Ellis.

Aon’s portfolio comprises more than 100 property interests around the UK, valued at tens of millions of pounds.

The asb law team was led by corporate finance partner Matt Newman, who is based in Maidstone, where the firm has 11 partners and 80 staff.

"The concept of outsourcing a property services team is extremely innovative," Mr Newman said.

"Traditional outsourcings are often IT related, and have quantifiable key performnce indicators. To outsource a service, where the service levels are more subjective, was an entirely different challenge, involving an understanding of the service, its personnel and the culture of both parties."

Asb also worked for Aon on the sale of Aon Claims Management (ACM) to Capita Insurance Services.

The move was part of Aon’s strategy to focus more closely on core areas of expertise and needs of clients.

Mr Newman said: "ACM is a multi-site business with more than 100 employees, and relies on a significant IT infrastructure.

"Our understanding of the huge changes taking place throughout the insurance services industry and experience in the sector meant that we could get this deal through working to very tight deadlines whilst protecting Aon’s interests.

"We had less than a month to complete the deal, and our team delivered a time-critical service."
