Merged accountants has 2,000 staff

TWO accounting firms with offices in Kent have joined forces. On April 1, HLB Kidsons and Baker Tilly formally merged to create one of the largest firms of accountants and business advisors in the United Kingdom.

The new firm is known as Baker Tilly and will continue to operate from offices in Tunbridge Wells and Bromley. Kent-based partner Bill Owen, previously with HLB Kidsons, said: "Our merger with Baker Tilly provides us an enhanced skill base which offers clients access to a wider range of specialists than before, ensuring that we can meet all their business needs."

He said: "We are committed to becoming a bigger, better and stronger firm and now have the additional resources and geographical spread to achieve this." Baker Tilly will have a combined income of £150 million, employ more than 2,000 staff, including some 300 partners in 29 UK locations.
