Not Alone, Covid-19 mental support for the black community, hosts Songs and Stories

Covid-19 has caused panic, frustration and grief in our communities, but it has touched the lives of those in the black community more than any other.

While many of us have faced huge challenges during 2020, for black communities, the pressures have been even more acute, with research showing they are at a heightened risk of mental health conditions stemming from the loss of a loved one, or a job, as a direct result of the pandemic.

But a mental support charity is here to provide a light in the darkness.

Not Alone is a mental support project for the black community which is a not-for-profit ministry arm initiative of the Light Assembly, sponsored by the National Lottery Community Support Fund.

Geared towards providing support and counselling for mental challenges arising from the pandemic among the black community, it will be staging an evening of music and stories of people who overcame Covid 19-related challenges this year.

Songs & Stories, which will be staged on Friday, December 18, will be both an actual event - government restrictions permitting - and a virtual event, so everyone can join in.

The event itself, is due to be at the P2 Centre in Erith, depending on government restrictions on that date, from 7.30pm to 9pm, and will be an evening of celebration and thankfulness in music and words of those who have overcome the emotional trauma of challenges from Covid-19.
