A young driver died after crashing his dream car while being filmed by friends, an inquest heard.

David Burns was killed when he lost control of his car at a speed of around 100mph.

The accident happened on the evening of January 27, after David and friends met up at the Texaco Garage on the A20 in Harrietsham.

At the 21-year-old from Maidstone's request a friend agreed to film him driving his Ford Focus RS on a mobile phone so he could hear what it sounded like.

But after driving past his friends who remained at the garage, he lost control of the car on a bend and crashed into a tree sustaining fatal injuries.

Recording a verdict of accidental death, coroner for Mid Kent and Medway Roger Sykes said: "I accept entirely the evidence of his friends that he was normally regarded as a safe driver who did not take unessessary risks.

"It appears on this occasion he was trying to put on a bit of a show for the benefit of the mobile phone recording, which in the end was not achieved, and in doing so he tried to carry too much speed into the bend."
