Andy Frampton and Matt Fish took a step closer to full recovery after getting a run-out in a Gillingham reserve match.

The defenders have both been missing with ankle injuries but returned to action in a behind-closed-doors game against Wycombe on Tuesday afternoon.

The visitors, who included former Gills defender Leon Johnson in their side, won the game with a Max Kretzschmar header.

Frampton played an hour of the match and Fish completed the full 90 minutes.

Both will now be up for selection this weekend.

Boss Andy Hessenthaler said: "I would have no hesitation with (selecting) those two and they will definitely be coming into the squad at the weekend."

Jordan Obita got minutes in his legs after missing Saturday's clash against Crewe with tonsillitis. Young full-backs Jack Evans and Joe Carter also saw some action as they recover from injury.

Hessenthaler used the game to also have a look a handful of trialists.

Former Bolton striker Javelin Campbell was included along with Chris Samba's nephew.

The Gills also fielded ex-Barnet forward Luke Medley but Hessenthaler distanced himself from any move for the front-man.

He said: "He has been training with us.

"There is nothing really here for him but it's an opportunity for him to have a run out."
