Appeal after street attack

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault that took place between 11.20pm and 11.30pm hours last Friday in London Road, Rainham.

The victim, a 28-year-old man was walking home along the A2 London Road with two friends. Mid-way between the church and Bloors Lane, the victim was approached by two men.

One of the men produced a baton and smashed a glass that the other man was carrying. The victim tried to stop the men but this seemed to provoke the man with the baton who struck the victim on the back of the head.

There was an exchange of words and the victim then ran to catch up with his two friends.

The victim was not taken to hospital and did not receive any visible injuries.

One of the offenders is described as around 16 years old, 5ft 10ins tall, of thin build with blond spiky hair. He was wearing a white tracksuit top.

The second offender is described as Asian, 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build with gelled cropped hair. He was wearing a Burberry check top. Both offenders appeared to be intoxicated.
