Appeal for witnesses

A seven-year-old boy was seriously injured after an accident with a car, which ended up hitting a tree.

It happened in Churchill Avenue, Folkestone, just before 7pm yesterday.

The child, who had been cycling with friends, was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford with arm, leg and head injuries. He is currently in a stable condition.

A woman passenger in the car was also injured and taken to the same hospital but is not thought to be seriously hurt.

The driver, a man, also went to hospital for a check-up.

The road was closed until 9.35pm.

Witnesses are being asked to contact PC Scott Norman at Kent Police on 101 giving reference number 4-1521.
