Armed police swoop on house

ARMED police surrounded a house in Sidcup this afternoon.

Officers from Bexley, a firearms unit and a police helicopter responded to reports that three men, armed with knives and a gun, were trying to storm the property in Woodlands Avenue at just past midday.

Police closed off the road but found no suspects. The occupant of the house, believed to be in her 20s, was found safe and well in a neighbour's house.

Witnesses saw armed police outside the house where a family of five are said to have lived for around five years.

Bexley CID are still investigating and officers remain at the scene, questioning neighbours and passers-by.
