Arrest as kitchens firm is probed

A MAN has been arrested during inquiries into the loss of £14,500 by 12 customers of a Chatham kitchen and door-fitting firm. The clients of New View Kitchen and Door Replacements have complained of placing orders which were not fulfilled.

Trading standards launched an investigation and the company stopped trading. Medway police said that a man was arrested on Monday. He has not been charged but bailed to return to Chatham police station at the end of April.

Det Con John Taylor said: "We want to hear from any other customers of New View who have paid deposits and not received their orders or had work done."

Natasha Smith, of Leslie Road, Gillingham, say she and her partner lost a £1,900 deposit for a bathroom and kitchen which were not fitted. Keith Lane, of Avery Way, Allhallows, says he lost a £370 deposit for new doors.

Former customers of New View can speak to Det Con Taylor on 01634 884072.
