Assistant threatened as robbers target off-licence

TWO robbers threatened a store assistant with what is believed to be a gun or knife in a daylight raid on an off-licence.

No one was hurt in the incident at the Wine Rack store in London Road, Southborough, near Tunbridge Wells.

Two men entered the shop and after threatening a member of staff with some sort of weapon stole cash from the till and a quantity of cigarettes. They fled carrying a holdall and black plastic bag.

Both robbers are white and believed to be aged between 25 to 28. One was about 6ft 3ins tall, stocklily built, with black hair, a goatee beard. He was wearing a blue zip-up sports top and blue tracksuit bottoms.

His accomplice is about 6ft 2ins tall, slightly built and bald. He was wearing a blue hooded top with writing on it, blue tracksuit bottoms, white trainers and a grey baseball cap.

The incident happened between 11.50am and 12.35pm on Wednesday. Anyone who saw the men or who has any other information about the robbery is asked to call West Kent police on 01732 370732 (if possible quoting reference 9300) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
