AS BECKY Elliot was enjoying a bath, little did she know she was about to give birth.

The expectant teenager from Carnation Road, Strood, near Rochester was a day overdue but had been sent home from Medway Maritime Hospital as doctors did not think her baby was yet on its way.

But the 17-year-old began to feel contractions shortly after 10am on Thursday.

Luckily, mother Sharon, sisters Emma, 19, and Kimberley, 21, and cousin Tina were on-hand to help with the bathroom floor delivery.

Sharon said: "We were all really nervous but what else could we do? I'm so proud of my daughter. She did a great job."

Becky gave birth to a healthy girl who she has named Lilley-May. The birth certificate reads: "Delivered by nan."

Paramedics arrived after the birth along with a midwife to make sure mum and baby were well.
