Boys held over handbag snatch in toilets

Three teenagers were in police custody on Tuesday morning after an elderly lady was robbed inside public toilets in Margate.

The woman, who is her 80s, had her handbag taken in the incident, which happened at 6.15pm Monday in The Centre.

She was found on the floor of the toilets and taken to the QEQM hospital but was discharged shortly after 9pm.

CCTV operators in the town provided police officers with a description of people seen in the area at the time.

Three boys aged 13, 14 and 15 were arrested at around 7.15pm on suspicion of robbery.

Officers also managed to recover the woman's handbag.
