Midfielder Romain Vincelot has joined the Gills on loan from Championship side Brighton until January 1.

Gillingham manager Martin Allen was keen to strengthen his team following the loss of several players to injury, including midfielders Charlie Allen and Charlie Lee.

Vincelot, who can also play in the full-back role, signed for Brighton last summer but the versatile Frenchman has yet to feature for the club this season.

Allen (pictured) said: “We have a few players missing due to knocks and we felt in necessary to bring in another player.

“He has scored goals in this division and achieved promotion and he is a good signing.”

Vincelot, 26, joined Brighton from Dagenham and made his debut for the Seagulls in their 1-0 League Cup victory over the Gills at the AMEX Stadium last August.

He had previously been brought to England by Dagenham manager John Still, where Vincelot scored 12 goals in his second season there in League 1, after helping them gain promotion in the previous campaign.

He goes straight into the Gills squad for their match with AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.
