Builder found with a card-fraud toolkit sentenced

A BUILDER found with a card-fraud toolkit has been sentenced for fitting a false front to a cash point.

Romanian Petrut Cisman,(both corr) 26, tampered with the Tesco Express machine in Anerley Hill, Anerley, while another man kept look-out.

But they were caught on camera - and two false fronts, a skimming device, screwdriver and superglue were found in his car.

Cisman, of Beech Road, Thornton Heath, was sentenced to nine months in prison - suspended for 18 months - and ordered to carry out 150 hours community work after pleading guilty to possessing articles for use in fraud.

He was also ordered to pay £250 costs at Croydon Crown Court on Tuesday. (November 6)

Cisman and another man were spotted on CCTV loitering by the cash machine at about 11pm on April 30. When they returned to fix the false front an hour later, police officers were waiting.

The men were arrested and both gave no-comment interviews before being bailed to Bromley police station in June.

Cisman returned and was charged - but the second man, Daniel Lefter, 28, also of Beech Road, Thornton Heath, failed to appear.

Lefter is thought to have fled to Romania, where an arrest warrent has been issued.
