Cabbie hit over the head by yobs

A CAB driver has told how he was beaten over the head by two yobs who tried to rob him at a railway station.

Dave Green, 51, was approached at Borough Green station by the two youths, one of whom he recognised from a taxi job.

He said: "First, they asked me for cigarettes, but I don't smoke. Then they asked for money. I said, 'you're not getting any'."

The pair, both aged about 18, were blocking his way back to the cab office, said Mr Green, a driver for A C Cars, of Station Approach, Borough Green.

Mr Green, from Medway, said: "I tried to squeeze my way through and then one of them beat me over the head." He thinsk he was assaulted with either a rock or bottle.

"I was bleeding quite freely. It was running down the back of my head. They stood in my way until a train came," he added.

Mr Green was treated in hospital for head injuries after the attack when happened at about 11.40pm on January 31. He was unable to return to work for some days.

Mr Greenwas unable to give police a detailed description of his attackers. Anyone with information on the assault is asked to call police on 0800 405040.
